Display issue in V12.2, Folder names blank out

V12.2, W 11 Pro.

When I select a folder in the list of folders, it turns white, so the folder name text disappears. This text reappears when I select a message in the message list.

The exception to this is that the parent ("root") folder for each account remains visible.

This kind of feels as if a text colour setting for the active (focussed?) folder has been set to white, but I haven't found any settings for text colours.

I have just noticed that the text reappears if I switch to another window, so it feels very much related to focus. I was attempting to take a screenshot but using my graphics program re-enabled the white-out text. The attached file was created using the built-in alt+PrtScn method.

OK, it has something to do with themes. Many of the available themes resolve this problem, but for me are unusable. Even those that I could work with (visually) let me down (e.g. Windows 10) because they don't tell me which folder I am looking at.

Windows 10 Dark hides all the folders text, all of the ime.
Windows 10 Green shows the same issue as my preferred theme, Classic.

Question: how does one create or edit a theme?

I use v12.2 64-bit in Windows 10 22H2, and never had such issues.

I don't know about changing TB themes, but some universal Windows registry fields for highlight colors may do the trick. See here:

Have you defined any color groups that may apply to these folders? (right-click on folder > color group)

I wondered if ChatGPT might have any additional suggestions. I won't vouch for their usefulness, but it had more than a few:

OK, it's all about colours. If I set the accounts panel to a non-white colour, I can see the lost text is set to white.

I think adjusting the colours for highlight will fix this, but that'll have to wait until I beg permission to make registry changes.

But why oh why did this change in v12.2? Have they fiddled with the theme, or changed the rendering? In what crazy world you you set white text on a white background?

This could be the culprit:

New features
  • Color groups: configurable background opacity and corner mark indicator
